Plant 1 Billion Trees by 2030
“Plant 1 Billion Trees by 2030” is an initiative by the World Wildlife Care Organization to heal Mother Earth and counter the vast impacts of deforestation, wildlife habitat depletion, and the loss of greenery due to urbanization.
We are far behind in reforestation efforts, and the need of the hour is not just to plant trees but to create forests and mini-forests to restore Earth’s ecosystem.
Join the Plant 1 Billion Trees initiative and contribute your part in giving back to nature and Mother Earth.
Challenge
India lost 2.33 million hectares of tree cover in last 20 Years between 2001 to 2023– Global Forest Watch
India lost 414 kha of humid primary forest, making up 18% of its total tree cover loss in same period– Global Forest Watch
Top 5 regions responsible for 60% of all tree cover loss are Assam, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland & Manipur– Global Forest Watch
Odissa, Kerala & Karnataka among Top 10 regions with higher rate of tree cover loss– Global Forest Watch
All these reports are alarming situation for Indian Forests, Wildlife and the surviving ecosystem.

Solution
Current practices of forestation, green belt provisions, and inaction on air quality index reports will not solve the crisis we now face. These measures lag far behind the rate of deforestation, while vast land parcels continue to be allocated for urbanization, new cities, and infrastructure.
To combat deforestation and accelerate ecosystem restoration & birds population, WWCO uses innovative approaches like mini jungles and Miyawaki forests.
Growing Miyawaki-Style Urban Forests
High-Density Native Planting: We use the Miyawaki method to create dense, fast-growing forests with native species, achieving 10x faster growth than conventional plantations.
Urban Green Spaces: Convert vacant plots, roadside strips, and institutional lands into pocket forests to improve air quality and biodiversity.
Growing Mini Jungles in Green Belt Areas, Residential Areas & Corporate Parks
Community-Driven Forests: WWCO encourages neighbourhoods, schools, and offices to adopt small-scale jungles (even 100 sq. ft.) with layered canopies (shrubs, trees, climbers) and must include native and fruit bearing trees to boost biodiversity and birds’ growth.

World Wildlife Care Organization has started an initiative to plant 1 Billion trees by 2030 to create a massive impact in reforestation drive, restoring wildlife habitats and gaining lost tree cover of India back improving environment and air quality. Take a part in this massive tree plantation drive by donating and spreading awareness on your social media.
Steps WWCO will take under Plant 1 Billion Trees by 2030 Mission!
- Native tree plantation in defined areas in Miyawaki Style
- Fruit tree plantation to create food source for birds in defined areas
- Timely year long monitoring of soil health & watering of planted trees
- Geo-tagging of trees with tree details such as the species, girth, height, age, health condition and even the canopy diameter.
- Regular monitoring and touring of plantation sites by volunteers to review progess
- Planted trees geo-tag info availability on WWCO site and social handles to create awareness
